Helio
Helio is a home energy app that brings solar, the battery, car charging and the grid into one place. It opens on a sentence instead of a dashboard, shows where your power is going with one bar split to scale, and lists what Autopilot will do next and what it saves you.
The idea
Home energy, by the hour.
Helio brings solar, the battery, car charging and the grid into one place. It opens on a sentence instead of a dashboard, shows where your power is going with one bar split to scale, and lists what Autopilot will do next and what it saves you.
Designed for iOS: three screens (Now, Energy and Plan) and the small system they are built from.
Now
Status you can read from across the room.
The system state is a sentence, not a dashboard. It changes with the house: on sunshine, on battery, or on the grid. One bar, divided to scale, shows where the power is going, and each part names its state in words, so colour is never the only signal. Below it, the next three events in time order, so nothing Autopilot does comes as a surprise.

Energy
The day, drawn left to right.
The solid line is what the array has made so far, the dashed line is the forecast, and the red bar marks the peak-rate window from 4 to 9 PM.

Plan
Autopilot shows its work.
Every step is listed before it happens, with the reason and the saving. Pause stops everything. Adjust changes one step.

The system
Four colours, three typefaces.
Bone, Ink, Vermilion and Sky. Instrument Serif for display, Geist Mono for labels and Geist for body text. The power split bar, the action buttons, the tab bar and one icon set carry all three screens.
